Navantia delivers first batch of LCM-1E landing craft to RAN

The first four fast landing crafts (LLC) for the Royal Australian Navy departed early March on board a cargo ship from Navantia's facilities in Puerto Real. The remaining eight units are being built by Navantia in different steps of construction, and will be delivered in groups of four during the coming months.

The LCM craft, based on landing craft Navantia built for the Spanish navy, will be used on Australia's two Canberra-class landing helicopter dock amphibious assault ships -- the Canberra and Adelaide -- under construction for Australia by Navantia.

LCM craft feature magnetic and HF communications equipment, radar navigation capability as well as a GPS.
